There appears to be a twist in the case of Novak Djokovic who remains in a hotel in Australia.

According to documents from his court file available to the country's authorities, Djokovic was diagnosed positive for coronavirus on December 16,as reported by sky news.

The top tennis player is in a quarantine hotel in Melbourne for the third day and his deportation or visa acceptance hearing is scheduled for Monday.

According to his lawyers, Novak Djokovic "contracted coronavirus last month but showed no symptoms and had written permission from Australia's immigration department before travelling to the country, with a medical exemption from its vaccination rules."

The statement also said the tennis player, first tested positive on December 16, 2021, but 14 days later "had no fever or respiratory symptoms for the past 72 hours." According to Reuters, on January 1, the athlete received "a letter from the Department of Home Affairs informing him that 'his responses indicate he qualifies for arrival without quarantine in Australia.
