Five drivers under the influence of drugs and six under the influence of alcohol were found behind the wheel, during a targeted operation conducted last night by the Paphos Police, reporting a total of 34 drivers.
According to Paphos Police Director Nikos Tsapi, members of the traffic police carried out checks in Paphos and on the secondary road network. Of the 34 traffic complaints, 5 relate to driving under the influence of drugs, 6 relate to driving under the influence of alcohol, 18 relate to driving over the speed limit and the rest are related to minor offences.
Mr. Tsapis urged drivers when driving to avoid consuming alcohol and drugs and to comply with the Highway Code.
The Police, he added, will continue to have an increased presence on the roads, conducting increased checks to prevent road traffic collisions.
