Case of illegal entry into property, animal cruelty, malicious damage to property, possession of offensive instrument, drunkenness and causing alarm in a public place, with a suspected 30-year-old man, who was arrested and taken into custody, is being investigated by the police.

The 30-year-old suspect was arrested by members of the police, for the offences of being drunk and causing alarm in a public place, at around 9.45pm last night, in an area of Paphos, where members of the police spotted him in a state of intoxication[/B] and shouting causing alarm.

Police members had rushed to the scene to locate the suspect after a woman contacted police a short time earlier and reported that a suspicious man had entered the yard of her home, where with a stick he hit her puppy, as well as chairs and other items in the yard.

After the 30-year-old man was arrested by police members who had rushed to the scene, the homeowner identified him as the man who had earlier entered the yard of her home.

Subsequent to the arrest of the 30-year-old suspect, a man reported to police that, around 8:00 p.m., a man matching the suspect's description caused malicious damage to his car.

The owner of the car, at Paphos Central Police Station, where the 30-year-old arrested man was taken, identified the suspect as the man who had caused damage to his vehicle.

A warrant of arrest

was issued against the 30-year-old man for the purpose of investigating the two incidents. He was also arrested on the warrant and remanded in custody, with the Micro Offences Unit and the Police Animal Unit, in Paphos, continuing their investigations.[/P]
