A 47-year-old man accused of the murder of mafioso Alexander Solonik was arrested at Thessaloniki airport at dawn, in 1997 at his villa in Lagonisi.
The foreigner, who had been identified and wanted by warrant since 2005, was caught by police at Thessaloniki airport when he arrived in Greece after a trip to Cyprus.[/B]
During the check, the authorities typed in his details and when they confirmed that he had an outstanding arrest warrant, they handcuffed him and took him to the Security headquarters.
The arrested man had Greek details, but he was Georgian and lived in Cyprus.
Interpol was informed through Cyprus that he would travel to Greece and in consultation with the National Police, they were waiting to arrest him.
He is accused of two murders.
