The Council of Ministers "locked" the plan for the adjustment of the measures The Council of Ministers "locked" the plan for the adjustment of the measures The 7-day quarantine for positive cases and release with a negative test Divided into categories of premises and professional activities All the decisions of the Government
What the new adjustment plan for the next day of the pandemic in Cyprus will bring, agreed at today's meeting of the Council of Ministers, if the country's epidemiological data allow moves in the direction of relaxations.
As reported in a previous post, scientists agreed yesterday that the time has come to reduce quarantine for positive cases and "sent" the issue for discussion to the Cabinet, which finally gave the green light.
As a result, the quarantine for covid positive cases is reduced to 7 days and release will be with a negative rapid test or pcr. Changes to the protocol and for close contacts.
In addition, the classification of premises and occupational activities on the basis of risk stands out from the decisions. No safe pass in certain areas.
"The steady and obvious improvement in epidemiological indicators, the reduction in hospitalisations, the drop in the number of cases and the positivity rate, show that the pandemic containment measures we have implemented have worked. This allows us to keep our promise to relax the measures, based on the recommendations of the Scientific Advisory Committee. The excellent response so far to the call for vaccination and compliance with the Ministry of Health's protocols give us a shield of protection and a sense of optimism that this whole adventure will soon come to an end. Let us not forget, however, that the road is long and we need everyone's cooperation and compliance with the decisions of the Scientific Advisory Committee in order to be able to take the extra steps back to normality. The goal of the Ministry of Health and the Scientific Advisory Committee is to simplify the pandemic containment measures with more easily understood guidelines," the Health Minister said in announcing the new relaxations.
All Cabinet decisions:
a) from 8 March as virus positive persons may be released on day 7, provided they secure a negative test (Rapid or PCR). If the result is positive, the procedure may be repeated until negative, or until the 10th day of self-limitation. The decision shall have retroactive effect.
From 8 March 2022, such close contacts of a confirmed positive case that have not been isolated from the virus positive person (e.g. (e.g. parents caring for a minor child, etc.) instead of remaining in restriction for 10+7 days, may after the release of the case on day 7 undergo testing (Rapid or PCR) and if they secure a negative result be released. The decision shall have retroactive effect.
c) from 8 March 2022, the approval of the update plan of measures against COVID-19. The plan will include the premises and occupational activities that will be classified based on risk, and citizens will know what the appropriate requirements are to enter those premises for either persons with a history of vaccination or persons without a history of vaccination. The plan will include 4 categories into which the premises will be classified:
a) high risk
b) medium risk
c) low risk
d) short stay premises where SafePasses will not be required.
The provisions of the update plan will be announced later today.
d) from 8 March 2022, the increase of capacity in retail businesses, casinos, gyms.
e) from 8 March 2022, increasing the maximum number of people at events including weddings and christenings to 500 people, provided that the area of the venue allows for a ratio of 1.5 square metres per person.
