A 74-year-old man will remain in custody until the start of the trial before the Paphos Cairo Court of his trial in the case of the premeditated murder of his wife, according to the Press Spokesman of the Paphos Police Directorate and Head of the Paphos Police Department Michael Nicolaou.

Mr. Nicolaou said that the 74-year-old was referred today to a direct trial before the Permanent Criminal Court which will meet in Paphos on 10.2.22 for the crime of premeditated murder of his wife. The Court also ordered that he remain in custody until then.

Mr. Nicolaou said the 74-year-old confessed wife-killer was discharged from the Mental Health Hospital in Athalassa where he was hospitalized.

The 74-year-old, Mr. Nicolaou, "confessed to committing the murder against his 75-year-old wife by blocking her nose and mouth with his hands" because, he said, she was ill with leukemia and he could not watch her suffer.
