Every fatal accident causes sadness. The loss of a human life on the tarmac... a tragedy. Even more tragic when young people, who have not had time to grow up, live and dream, are lost on the tarmac.
The fatality that occurred at dawn on the Cheriu- Chalepiana road with the victim being the unfortunate Elizabeth Spanou, only 23 years old, was the sixth since the beginning of the year.
Five fatal crashes with a similar number of fatalities were investigated by traffic police and another with two victims investigated by British Banks Police.

"Unfortunately, all the victims we have this year, from the authorities, are all young people, under 33 years old," said Police Spokesman Christos Andreou, speaking on ANT1's midday show and Nikitas Kyriakou.
Mr. Andreou referred again to the Police's campaigns to inform the public and especially young drivers about safe and defensive driving.
"Despite the campaigns, briefings and lectures, unfortunately we continue to observe fatal road collisions," he said, expressing concern.
