The new cases of the virus in Greece - What EODY announced - The situation with deaths and hospitalized patients

The data presented relate to cases from the epidemiological surveillance of the disease by the new coronavirus (COVID19), based on data reported to EODY and recorded until 24 February 2022 (15:00).

The new laboratory-confirmed cases of the disease recorded in the last 24 hours are 15,829, of which 33 were identified following checks at the country's entry gates. The total number of cases is 2,369,396 (daily change +0.7%), of which 49.6% are men.

Based on the confirmed cases in the last 7 days, 286 are considered to be associated with travel from abroad and 2,163 are associated with an already known case.

Daily evolution of the pandemic: The daily distribution of confirmed cases is as follows (the line represents the overall, cumulative distribution of cases).

The new deaths of patients with COVID-19 are 65, while a total of 25,603 deaths have been recorded since the start of the epidemic. 95.0% had underlying disease and/or were aged 70 years or older.

The number of patients hospitalized intubated is 454 (65.0% male). Their median age is 67 years. 87.4% have an underlying disease and/or age 70 years or older. Among the hospitalized intubated patients, 330 (72.69%) are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 124 (27.31%) are fully vaccinated. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 4,241 patients have been discharged from ICUs.

The admissions of new Covid-19 patients to hospitals in the territory are 333 (daily change -10.48%). The seven-day average admission is 347 patients.The median age of cases is 35 years (range 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of deaths is 79 years (range 0.2 to 106 years).



Samples tested:

As of 1 January 2020 to date, a total of 9 samples have been tested in laboratories testing for the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) that systematically report the total number of samples tested.845,073 clinical samples have been tested, while 54,726,007 samples have been tested by Health Units and HACCP Clinics performing Rapid Ag testing. The seven-day average is 307,412 sample checks.

Self-tests.993 people have come in for re-testing.

MASS Sampling of EHS: As of 23 February 2022, 176 sampling actions have been carried out by EHS Mobile Health Teams (MHSTs), in which 29 self-tests have been conducted.

Geographical distribution:

The map shows the geographical distribution of total COVID-19 cases (since the beginning of the epidemic) by Regional Unit of the country, based on the patient's declared permanent residence address, or temporary residence address for tourists and other temporary residents in Greece. Both cases with a travel history ("imported") and cases with possible domestic transmission are included.
