A 35-year-old man who was arrested yesterday for a child pornography case was brought before the Nicosia District Court on Sunday 35-year-old man who was arrested yesterday for a case of child pornography. The court issued an order for his four-day detention.
A police statement said that following an evaluation of information received from EUROPOL, members of the Cybercrime Branch of the Headquarters' Cybercrime Branch proceeded to arrest the 35-year-old yesterday afternoon on the basis of a court warrant.
The arrest of the 35-year-old was preceded by a search under a court warrant at the residence where he resides, following information that a certain owner/user of a social networking platform account had sent to other users a video file containing material of sexual abuse of minors.
Three mobile phones were found in the 35-year-old's possession, which were taken as evidence to be sent for scientific examination.
The Headquarters Cybercrime Branch is continuing its investigation.
