Cases in nursing homes 58-year-old woman among four new coronavirus victims announced today High hospitalizations and positivity rate

Steadily too high number of cases that for the second day did not fall below 5,000. In particular, another 5,202 new cases were announced out of a total of 130,076 tests detecting the disease. Based on current data, the positivity rate stands at 4%.


Another day of deaths were recorded as four of our fellow human beings expired with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19. They were a 58-year-old woman, an 80-year-old man, an 84-year-old woman and a 91-year-old woman

The majority of them were unvaccinated

At the same time, the number of hospitalizations remains high. As of today there are 205 patients with coronavirus in public hospitals, of which 70 are in serious condition.

80%[/B] of inpatients have no vaccination history.

"Hit" the nursing homes again

Meanwhile, a double-digit number of cases were recorded from checks in nursing homes. According to the Ministry's data, a total of 35 new cases were detected in nursing homes in Nicosia and Limassol while 1168 diagnostic tests were carried out.



It is worth noting that based on the measures announced today by the Minister of Health, from tomorrow 6 January 2022, residents will be banned from leaving or staying overnight in closed structures and nursing homes.
