A man aged 34 was sentenced to three and a half years in prison by the Larnaca Permanent Criminal Court today, for the offence of assisting the illegal entry of a third country national into the territory of the Republic. The case was investigated by the Larnaca CID.

According to the details of the case, a member of the Police, specifically a member of the Aliens and Immigration Service, on November 11, 2021, around 8.00 in the morning, spotted the 34-year-old man transporting in a car that he was driving on a road in Larnaca, a 29-year-old woman, a third-country national, who, as revealed by the examinations that were subsequently conducted, had entered the free areas of the Republic from the occupied territories[/B] with the mediation of the 34-year-old man, for a monetary reward.

The 34-year-old was arrested on a court warrant for the purposes of police investigations, with the police subsequently proceeding to register the case for immediate trial by the Permanent Criminal Court. After the Court of Cassation found the 34-year-old guilty of committing the offences under trial, on Thursday morning, it imposed a three-and-a-half-year prison sentence on him.
