Sentence of imprisonment, for the fatal road traffic collision that occurred in March, 2017, and resulted in the death of a boy, aged 10 years, was imposed today by the Limassol District Court on the 28-year-old driver of the vehicle involved.

After hearing the case and after, based on the evidence presented by the Prosecution before the District Court, the Court found the 28-year-old guilty of the offence of causing death by reckless, reckless or dangerous act, as well as for the offence of driving a vehicle at excessive speed, he was sentenced to two years' imprisonment and deprived of his driving licence for a period of two and a half years.

The fatal road collision occurred shortly after 3.00 p.m. on March 14, 2017, on Kostis Palamas Street, Limassol, where the 10-year-old boy, while crossing the road, was struck and injured by the car driven by the then 24-year-old. The unfortunate boy was taken by ambulance to Limassol General Hospital, where despite the efforts of doctors he succumbed to his injuries Fatal road accident 10-year-old boy died

The circumstances under which the fatal road collision occurred had been investigated by the Limassol Traffic Police.
