The case of 8 patients[/B] who were infected with a multi-resistant strain of pseudomonas after cataract procedures at a private hospital in Nicosia about a year and a half ago is going the way of justice.

Following instructions from the Legal Service, two doctors were charged in the case and are now being prosecuted, which leaves the relatives, who have been fighting for vindication from the very first moment, satisfied.

As the Cyprus Times informs, the two doctors face eight charges, one for each patient, for negligent and reckless acts during a medical act and surgery.



The two doctors, however, according to information from the outset who were called to testify do not admit any responsibility in the contamination of patients with the pseudomonas strain.

Satisfaction of relatives

The satisfaction of the relatives of the patients who were involved in the case, Father Raphael, speaking to the Cyprus Times after being informed that the case is now taking the path of justice.

Father Raphael, a relative of the 79-year-old patient who passed away last year, reports that they are finally being vindicated for something they have been crying out for some time.



"I thank the Legal Service and the Police for the work they did and saw the matter realistically and humanely, feeling our pain and anguish, without considering any pressures they might have had from third parties," he says.
