This year's 24th Logicom Cyprus Marathon, which will take place next Sunday, March 13, in Paphos, is taking place with 1600 runners.

According to an announcement by the Paphos Region Tourism Development and Promotion Company, one of the institutional supporters of the event, this year's foreign runners come from 35 different countries.

"Following the Health Protocol of the races, which was approved by the Ministry of Health, this year's marathon will be limited to 1600 participants," it is noted, adding that the 2019 event had attracted the participation of 3500 runners.

"The Logicom Cyprus Marathon has become one of the most important sporting, cultural and social events hosted by Paphos and contributes greatly to the development of winter sports tourism throughout the province," the statement said.

The sports event incorporates four different distances, namely marathon (42,195 metres), half marathon (21,098 metres), 10km road race and 5km family road race.

In his statements, the Director of ETAP Paphos, Nassos Hadjigeorgiou said that "it is really very important that Paphos for the 24th time hosts the Cyprus Marathon, an event known for its high level, for the range of athletes and nationalities it attracts as well as for the economic and other benefits it brings to the local and national economy". At the same time, he praised the fact that Destination Paphos, once again confirms that it has all the necessary ingredients to rise even higher in the preferences of athletes and in the global map of destinations for athletes and sports events.
