On a three-month holiday from Tuesday, 12 unvaccinated priests of the archdiocesan region of Protakushto disobey their Archbishop, said the Archdeacon of the Cypriot Church The Archbishop spoke of other motives

Twelve priests of the archdiocesan region will be put on a three-month holiday from next Tuesday, as they did not respond to the Archbishop's call to be vaccinated for coronavirus.

Of the one hundred and twenty-three priests in the archdiocese, twenty-seven are unvaccinated. Of these, ten-five were vaccinated or secured an exemption for medical reasons.

Archbishop Chrysostomos told RIK that most of them are also theologians and that they entice the faithful not to be vaccinated.

Sending the message that it is unheard of for them to disobey their Archbishop, he stressed that three months out of the Church may become six, or they may be deposed.

His Beatitude also expressed the view that there are other motives behind the attitude of some priests, taking advantage, he said, of his failing health.
