A 39-year-old man was arrested on Friday night on suspicion of having set fire to the town’s Christmas tree.
The tree, which was located in the town’s central Kennedy Square, was torched in the early hours of Wednesday morning and was completely destroyed.
Subsequent police investigations found evidence against the 39-year-old man, who was taken into custody as investigations continue.
