A Molotov cocktail was thrown at a mobile traffic camera van near Limassol on Friday night, police said.

The incident occurred in the Kato Polemidia area at around 9.20pm. There were no injuries reported as a result of the incident, and the vehicle was undamaged.

The police have begun their investigation into the matter.

This is not the first incident of an attack on a mobile traffic camera, with gunshots having been fired at a camera van near Xylofagou last year, with “multiple reports” being heard of similar incidents having taken place at the time.

A camera van in the Larnaca district was the victim of a drive-by shooting with a hunting rifle in 2022, while one angry man from Paphos was arrested last October for hitting a van with his hand and swearing at the camera’s operator.
