The traffic camera system in Larnaca was expanded on Friday after the operational start of 18 fixed cameras across town.

According to an announcement released by the Larnaca police directorate, the new fixed cameras were installed in key locations across town.

Specifically, four cameras will be activated to monitor violations such as running red lights, encroaching upon white lines, and exceeding speed limits at the intersection of Spyros Kyprianou and Alexandrou Panagoulis.

In addition, the same violations will be monitored by four cameras at the intersection of Artemidos and Faneromenis, and another four at the junction of Spyros Kyprianou Avenue with Luther King and Pavlos Valsamides Streets.

Furthermore, two more cameras will oversee similar violations at the intersection of Archbishop Makarios and Archbishop Kyprianou.

Moreover, two camera devices will be installed along the Larnaca Dhekelia road at the 15th-kilometer mark, and another two at the 8th-kilometer mark. These cameras will solely monitor speed limits and speeding violations.

According to the announcement, the primary objective remains the continual reduction of serious and fatal road collisions, as well as fostering a sound road consciousness among users of the road network.
