The naval blockade of Gaza has only been partially lifted and only for Cyprus, Israeli Ambassador to Cyprus Oren Anolik, said on Thursday.

Anolik said the blockade of Gaza had been lifted only in the context of the operation of the Cyprus-led maritime humanitarian corridor.

In an interview with the Jewish News Syndicate website, the Israeli ambassador also mentioned that everything transported to Gaza goes through controls in Cyprus.

He also noted that at the temporary dock being built by US forces is expected to be operational at the end of April or beginning of May and will provide a technical solution to the offloading of cargo at the Gaza Strip coast.

Anolik indicated that Israel is very supportive of the humanitarian process, which he described as a complex project requiring involvement of organisations within Israel, as well as the state’s foreign partners.

The Israeli ambassador clarified there is a direct connection between the US effort to create a dock and the Cypriot ‘Amalthea’ initiative.
