It’s up to seven times more likely for Covid-19 patients to end up in hospital if they’re unvaccinated, according to the latest comparative data compiled by the health ministry until March 8.
The numbers exclude post-Covid patients still receiving treatment in hospital.
The ministry says a quadruple to seven-fold greater risk of hospitalisation exists for the unvaccinated compared to those who are partly or fully vaccinated.
Currently, 55 per cent of hospitalised covid patients are unvaccinated, 8 per cent are partly vaccinated and 2 per cent are fully vaccinated.
Thirty-five per cent of hospitalised patients have also received their booster dose, with 80.5 per cent of them being over 70.
Numbers indicate a significant shift to vaccinated Covid patients, as less than a month ago, the unvaccinated hospitalised patients were almost 70 per cent but that percentage has gone down ever since.
