President Nikos Christodoulides is in Doha on Monday to meet with members of the Qatari government.
He touched down in Doha on Sunday evening and was met at the airport by the country’s Deputy Foreign Minister Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi.
He is due to hold a meeting with the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani at around 10am, before heading to the Al Wajba palace for a meeting with the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Following the meeting, there will be extended talks between the delegations of both Cyprus and Qatar.
In the afternoon, Christodoulides will take a guided tour around the grounds of the Expo 2023 “Green Desert, Better Environment” exhibition, before the Emir of Qatar hosts a meal in Christodoulides’ honour in the evening.
It is also expected that the governments of Cyprus and Qatar will sign a memorandum of understanding in the field of higher education and scientific research.
