Police on Wednesday have issued an arrest warrant for a 45-year-old prison guard in connection with a drug smuggling case at the central prisons.

According to the police, throughout the past weeks they received information that a prison guard was systematically bringing drugs into the prison with intent to smuggle them to detainees.

After examining all the reports they received, officers of the drug squad Ykan decided to search the premises used by the prison guard before he entered the facility. During the inspection, evidence was seized and sent for scientific examination, revealing that he had stashed adhesive strips infused with synthetic cannabinoids.

Following the discovery, police issued an arrest warrant against the prison guard, who is now wanted. In the course of the investigation, testimony emerged against two additional individuals. Arrest warrants were also issued for these two related individuals, a 56-year-old, and a 31-year-old, both related to the wanted prison guard.

The 56-year-old and 31-year-old in question were interrogated, and their claims are currently under investigation.
