A yellow warning for prolonged showers and locally heavy thunderstorms today was issued yesterday by the Meteorological Department.
The warning which is in effect from 0600 to 2200 on Wednesday states that "prolonged showers and locally heavy thunderstorms are expected to affect the area from time to time".
"Total rainfall is likely to locally exceed 55 mm per 24 hours," it added.
