The Cyprus-Egypt match in Cairo is even, with one win and one loss, after the completion of the two matches of the first day of the Davis Cup World Cup, the Cyprus Anti-Football Federation (OAK) announced on Friday.
Taking stock of the first day, the OAK said that Petros Chrysochos, "putting in an excellent performance", defeated Kareem Mohamed Maamoun 2-0 in straight sets (6-3, 6-4), evening up Menelaus Efstathiou's loss in the first match of the day to Mohamed Safad also 2-0 (6-3, 6-2).
The matches, according to an OAK statement, "are being held at the historic El Jezire Sporting Club, home of the Egyptian National Tennis Team for over a century, now transformed into Cairo's largest multi-sport venue."
