Manchester City secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Tuesday night with an impressive 5-0 victory over Sporting Lisbon in the first leg of the round of 16.

Pep Guardiola's side were thunderous, with two goals from Bernardo Silva and one each from Mahrez, Fontaine and Sterling to snap their losing streak on Portuguese soil following defeats to Lyon in the 2020 quarter-final and Chelsea in last year's final.

In the day's other game, Paris Saint-Germain beat Real Madrid 1-0 at home thanks to a goal from Killian Bapet in the 4th minute of stoppage time, with Lionel Messi having missed a penalty in the 62nd minute.
