The UN Security Council and the Secretary-General want an envoy for Cyprus to be appointed and there should be some consensus on the terms of his mandate, UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General and head of UNFICYP, Colin Stewart, said.
Stewart, who was speaking on Tuesday after a meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar, also noted that it is important to build conditions that can create the space for an eventual settlement of the Cyprus problem.
