The Famagusta District Court imposed a fine of 7.500 thousand euros each, to two men aged 40 and 29 years after finding them guilty in a case concerning conspiracy to commit a felony, conducting and providing online betting services in the Republic by online i.e. On line casino, providing betting services in violation of the terms of the license of the establishment and deliberately obstructing a law enforcement officer in the lawful performance of his duty.
As Steve Theodoulou, spokesman for the Famagusta Police Directorate, told CNA, "the events of the case took place on 15/11/18 as part of a coordinated operation by the Office for Combating Illegal Betting of the Police Headquarters, the Famagusta OPE and the Xylophagos Police Station, at a betting agency in Avgorou".
