Stefanos Tsitsipas needed two tie breaks to advance to the third round of the tournament, held in Indian Wells. The Greek champion, who is ranked No. 5 in the world, won 7-6(5), 3-6, 7-6(5) over American Jack Shock and will face 21-year-old -also- American Jenson Brooksby (No. 43), who beat 25-year-old Russian Karen Katsanov (No. 26) 6-0, 6-3, in the next round.

Shock (No. 147) put up a strong fight against Tsitsipas, as he led 5-3 in the first set, leading in both tie breaks, but "Tsitsifast" managed to fight back to take the win and qualify, showing tremendous reserves of composure and confidence.
