Toyota reported a net profit of $6.8 billion for the second quarter of 2021, despite a global crisis caused by a shortage of chips and parts due to a pandemic that led to a reduction in production.
The Japanese auto giant, which retained its position as the world's top automaker in 2021, kept its net annual profit forecast unchanged but slightly lowered its full-year vehicle sales target.
Toyota reported a net profit of 791.7 billion yen for the second quarter of 2021, down about 5 percent year-on-year, but much better than the 619.2 billion yen expected by analysts surveyed by Bloomberg.
