The Technical Committee for Cultural Heritage has sent a team to Panagia of Asia to assess the situation after the recent overflow of the river Gialia and to initiate as soon as possible the procedures for the restoration of the damage. In a statement, the Technical Committee also clarified that a hydrological and geotechnical study it had carried out in the past showed that dealing with the flooding would require extensive work on the river bank and on private property at enormous financial cost, which would by definition be outside its terms of reference.
