The Society of Literature and Criticism expresses its regret for the death of Lefkios Zafeiriou, poet, prose writer, philologist-researcher, co-editor of magazines and educator.

"Without a doubt, Cyprus, which L. Zafeiriou loved and served with zeal and dedication, is now poorer," it adds.

The Literature and Criticism Club bids farewell to the Larnaca-based writer by quoting lines from a poem by Zafeiriou himself. "Poetry is a garden full of birds, singing love Michael Anna. Poetry is the house that holds the whole world inside. But when freedom is lost, poetry becomes a sword and a rifle."
