The news of the death of Lefkios Zafiriou was deeply saddening, says the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth Prodromos Prodromou, expressing the certainty, on behalf of the Ministry and the educational world, that his memory will be eternal and dear.
"We are losing a talented and gifted writer and scholar, who was a long-time official of the Ministry of Education, with a special contribution to the Greek letters of Cyprus," the Minister of Education said in a written statement, adding that Lefkios Zafeiriou distinguished himself and contributed a lot as a poet and prose writer, as a scholar of literature and as an executive officer of education.
"He was one of the people who leaves a legacy in cultivating the crucial relationship between education and letters and literature," he adds.
