Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias expressed the view that the issue that has arisen with EastMed is not geopolitical.

In an interview with the newspaper "TA NEA", Mr. Dendias argues that "Developments in relation to this issue primarily concern economic viability, the technical possibilities of the project, and the environmental impact".

At the same time, he describes the cooperation between Greece and the US as exemplary and makes special reference to the 3+1 initiative (Greece, Cyprus, Israel and the US) which, he says, "constitutes recognition of the role that Greece now plays in the stability of the wider region".

Nikos Dendias also welcomes the fact that the European Commission has announced that it will finance the Euro-Asia Interconnector.
