[CNA] The death of N. Katsikas is a great loss for the Hellenism of Egypt, the Cyprus Ambassador to the country tells CNA

The death of the journalist and correspondent of CNA and other Greek and Cypriot media in Cairo, Nikolaos Katsikas, has caused deep sadness, especially in the Greek and Cypriot community in Egypt.

"He was an experienced and consistent professional, who was omnipresent. As a person he was for us like a member of the Cypriot family in Cairo. He was a friend and the loss is very great for everyone, and we still don't realize it I can say," Cyprus' Ambassador to Egypt, Homer Mavrommatis, told CNA.

Mavrommatis said that on Saturday evening the Cypriot embassy was scheduled to host the Cairo Cypriot Brotherhood's annual cake cutting ceremony, to which Katsikas was invited, and that he would cover it.
