The Cyprus Union of Journalists stands by the side of the persecuted Turkish Cypriot journalist Ali Kishmir, according to a statement today.
According to the statement, Ali Kishmir, President of the Basin Sen Press Workers' Guild, is again being prosecuted, this time criminally, by the "police" in the occupied territories for an article published a year and a half ago in which he criticized Turkey, the AKP government and the Turkish occupation army for their interference in the internal affairs of the Turkish Cypriot community, as a result of which he is being brought before a "criminal court" facing charges that could lead to up to ten years in prison and a ban on leaving the pseudo-state.
It is also noted that the new prosecution of Kashmir has already been strongly condemned by the European and International Federation of Journalists,
