The developments in Ukraine seem to have brought a change of plans for the French aircraft carrier "Charles de Gaulle", which is shortening its docking time in Cyprus and sailing this afternoon from the port of Limassol, together with the support ships of the Task Force 473 naval task force.
Defence Ministry spokesman Christos Pieris confirmed CNA's information that the "Charles de Gaulle", along with its escort, is sailing today, instead of Friday, while he said that the Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) has already been cancelled due to the weather conditions that will prevail tomorrow, the day the exercise was scheduled to take place.
Further information on the reason for the acceleration of the carrier's departure has not been made known, while in contact with a representative of the French Embassy we were told that, at present, there is no comment
