A €1.5 million plan to support Local Authorities for the creation of regional temporary shelters for stray dogs for the period 2022 - 2024 was approved today by the Cabinet of Ministers
According to an official statement, the Cabinet, recognising the need for further protection of stray animals, approved a special Plan to support Local Authorities (LAs) to develop appropriate regional temporary shelters for stray dogs. The proposed Scheme is intended to provide financial support for partnerships between local authorities to develop regional stray dog rehoming facilities in each Province in accordance with the requirements of the Animal Welfare and Protection Regulations.
It is stated that for the implementation of the Project, the total expenditure will amount to €1.
