The funeral took place at noon at the Church of St. Nektarios, in Platy Aglatzia, while his burial took place at the Church of Timios Stavros, in Potamia, where he was originally from. The funeral was attended by the President of the Republic, Nicos Anastasiades, the Speaker of the Parliament, Anita Demetriou, members of the Council of Ministers, the Attorney General of the Republic, Giorgos Savvidis, party leaders, MPs and various state officials.
