At least six people have died after fans tried to enter the Olembe Stadium in Cameroon's capital, Yaoundé, to watch the African Cup of Nations host nation's effort against New Comoros in the knockout match of the tournament's round of 16.
A regional governor, Naseri Paul Miya, disclosed that there may be more casualties as a hospital in the region said at least 40 people were injured in the attempted invasion of the stadium.
