[CNA] Significant 23.3% decrease in total motor vehicle registrations in January 2022

A significant decrease of 23.3% was recorded in January 2022, on an annual basis, the total registrations of motor vehicles, according to data released on Tuesday by the Statistical Service, mainly due to the significant decrease, by 585, in registrations of passenger car saloons.


Total motor vehicle registrations reached 2,633 compared to 3,431 in January 2021.

According to the Statistical Office, passenger car saloon registrations decreased by 21.4% to 2,147, compared to 2,732 in the corresponding month of 2021. Of the total passenger saloon cars, 1,111 or 51.7% were new and 1,036 or 48.3% were used cars.

In addition, bus registrations decreased to two in January 2022, down from four in the same month of 2021.
