Since 1960, the year the Republic of Cyprus was founded, 58 members of the Security Corps have died in the front line of duty, says the Equality Police Corps Branch on the occasion of March 7, the Day of Remembrance and Honour of Police Officers who died in the line of duty. It also asks the state to shield the profession as "highly dangerous".
"Honor and glory to all those who have lost their lives for law and values," a statement reads.
