A meeting of SEGDAMELIN-PEO took place on Wednesday morning in front of the Presidential Palace, which supports the 24-hour strike of workers at the Fasouri Farm in reaction to the decision of the Ministry of Labour to give work permits to foreigners for agricultural work at the farm, which is carried out by Cypriot workers.
Athos Eleftheriou, General Secretary of the guild, who led the delegation of striking workers, said that the problem has existed since last summer and it has not been possible to solve it. He said that the workers' collective labour agreement was being violated, adding that the SEGDAMELIN-PEO condemned the attitude of the Ministry of Labour, Welfare and Social Insurance, which he said was ignoring the existence of the workers.
