The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) gives the opportunity to compete under a neutral flag at the Winter Paralympic Games, which begin on Friday in Beijing, to athletes from Russia and Belarus.
The Commission gave the right to participate to the para-athletes of the two under the Paralympic flag and without being included in the medal table.
As stated in the Commission's statement, "in reaching its decision, the Council was guided by the fundamental principles of the IPC, which include a commitment to political neutrality and impartiality, as well as an unwavering belief in the transformative power of sport."
