[/ATTACH][BR] Russian gas giant Gazprom may tap a US-sanctioned field located off Sakhalin Island in the Pacific to supply China with natural gas under a recently signed agreement between the two countries, sources and analysts said today.
Russia, already China's No.3 gas supplier, is strengthening ties with China as the world's largest energy consumer, reducing its dependence on traditional European energy customers amid its standoff with the West.
