It is a special day and one of the most glorious in our history, said Speaker of the Parliament Anita Demetriou, after the wreath-laying ceremony at the Prisoners' Memorial on Friday.
We are here today, she said, to honour our lads, those who sacrificed themselves in this glorious struggle so that Cyprus could then enjoy its independence.
"Such days remind us of our duty, with unity and unanimity, to work until we can see our homeland liberated and reunited.
