Thanks to the immediate response of the Port and Maritime Police, a 52-year-old man, who was helpless in the sea of Akamas, was rescued.
According to a statement by the Communication Branch of the Police Headquarters, around 8am on Saturday, information was received at the Port and Naval Station, in Latchi, that a runaway inflatable boat was sailing in the sea area of Akamas.
The police shuttle "Agia Irini" immediately went to the area and located the boat in question. After ascertaining that there were no passengers on board, the members of the Port and Maritime Police began searching for persons who may have been at sea.
