A statement issued by her mother, reported by British media, reads: "It is with great relief to hear that the authorities in Cyprus have acknowledged the errors in their legal process. While this verdict does not excuse the way she was treated by the police or the judge or the authorities, it brings with it the hope that my daughter's ordeal will at least bring about positive changes in the way crime victims are treated."
