The Central Bank of Turkey's foreign exchange sales to state-owned energy import company Botas reached record levels as oil and gas imports widened the country's trade deficit.
As Bloomberg reports, Turkey's monetary authority sold $4.15 billion worth of foreign currency to Botas in January 2022, according to data released Monday.
This is the highest monthly amount since June 2013.
