The number of migrants arriving in the territory controlled by the Republic of Cyprus has increased by about 40% compared to the previous year, President Nicos Anastasiades told CNA during a teleconference convened by European Council President Charles Michel in preparation for the summit to be held tomorrow in Brussels.
Migration is one of the issues of concern to the EU and is on the agenda of the European Council. Cyprus is the country in the EU that receives the most migrants in relation to its population, with President Anastasiades highlighting the disproportionate burden borne by the Republic of Cyprus due to the greatly increased migratory flows.
