[CNA] President Anastasiades underlines Turkey's non-alignment with EU sanctions against Russia at informal summit

The role that Cyprus can play in providing the European Union with energy, the problematic role of Turkey as the country has not aligned itself with the EU sanctions against Russia for the invasion of Ukraine, as well as the need for plans to strengthen Europe's defence to take into account the threats and challenges that Cyprus and Greece face from Turkey, President Anastasiades underlined in his remarks on the afternoon of the first day of the informal summit in Versailles.

According to a written statement by Government Spokesman Marios Pelekanos, in his intervention during the afternoon plenary session of the summit, President Anastasiades noted that the Republic of Cyprus, "as a country under occupation for almost 48 years that is still experiencing the consequences of the Turkish invasion,
